Paingala Upanishad 16: Verse 16
कर्मेन्द्रियाणि ज्ञानेन्द्रियाणि तत्तद्विषयान् प्राणान् संहृत्य कामकर्मान्वितोऽविद्याभूतवेष्टितो जीवो देहान्तरं प्राप्य लोकान्तरं गच्छति। प्राक्कर्मफलपाकेनावर्तान्तरकीटवद्विश्रान्तिं नैव गच्छति॥१६॥
कर्मेन्द्रियाणि । ज्ञानेन्द्रियाणि । तत्-तत्-विषयान् । प्राणान् । संहृत्य । काम-कर्म-अन्वितः । अविद्या-भूत-वेष्टितः । जीवः । देह-अन्तरम् । प्राप्य । लोक-अन्तरम् । गच्छति । प्राक् । कर्म-फल-पाकेन । आवर्त-अन्तर-कीट-वत् । विश्रान्तिम् । न । एव । गच्छति ।
karmendriyāṇi jñānendriyāṇi tattadviṣayān prāṇān saṃhṛtya kāmakarmānvito’vidyābhūtaveṣṭito jīvo dehāntaraṃ prāpya lokāntaraṃ gacchati | prākkarmaphalapākenāvartāntarakīṭavad viśrāntiṃ naiva gacchati ||16||
കർമേന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളും ജ്ഞാനേന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളും അവയുടെ വിഷയങ്ങളും പ്രാണങ്ങളും സംഹരിച്ച്, കാമവും കര്മവും സഹിതനായി അജ്ഞാനാവരണത്തില് പൊതിഞ്ഞ ജീവന് മറ്റൊരു ദേഹം പ്രാപിച്ച് മറ്റൊരു ലോകത്തിലേക്ക് പോകുന്നു. മുന്കര്മഫലത്തിന്റെ പരിപാകം വരുവോളം അവന് വിശ്രമം ഒരിക്കലും പ്രാപിക്കുകയില്ല; ഒരു ചുഴിയില്നിന്ന് മറ്റൊരു ചുഴിയിലേക്കു നീങ്ങുന്ന പുഴുവിനെപ്പോലെ.
Having withdrawn (gathered up) the organs of action, the organs of knowledge, their respective objects, and the vital breaths, the individual self—accompanied by desire and action, and enveloped by ignorance—attains another body and goes to another world. Until the ripening of the fruits of prior actions, it does not at all reach rest, like a worm (moving) from one whirlpool to another.
