ā́haṃ sárasvatī-vatoḥ indrā́gnyor ávo vṛṇe | yā́bhyāṃ gāyatrám ṛcyáte ||
Translation
സരസ്വതീശക്തിയോടെ വരുവുന്ന ഇന്ദ്ര–അഗ്നികളുടെ രക്ഷക സഹായത്തെ ഞാൻ ആഹ്വാനിച്ചു തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കുന്നു; ഇവരാൽ ഗായത്രി (ഛന്ദസ്) നമ്മുടെ ഉള്ളിൽ ജീവന്തമായ ഋചയായി ഉച്ചരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു.
