अग्नेः पूर्वे भ्रातरो अर्थमेतं रथीवाध्वानमन्वावरीवुः । तस्माद्भिया वरुण दूरमायं गौरो न क्षेप्नोरविजे ज्यायाः ॥

agnéḥ pū́rve bhrā́taro ártham etáṃ rathī́vā́dhvā́nam ánv ā́varīvur | tásmād bhiyā́ varuṇa dū́ram ā́yaṃ gaúro ná kṣépnoḥ ā́vije jyā́yāḥ ||

അഗ്നിയുടെ മുൻകാല സഹോദരന്മാർ ഈ അർത്ഥത്തെ പിന്തുടർന്നു—രഥി വഴിയെ പിന്തുടരുന്നതുപോലെ. അതിനാൽ, ഹേ വരുണാ, ഭയത്താൽ ഞാൻ ദൂരെയായി പോയി—ചാട്ടിന്റെ എറിവിൽ ഞെട്ടിയ ഗൗരൻ (കാട്ടുകാള) കൂടുതൽ ശക്തിയിലേക്കു ഓടിപ്പോകുന്നതുപോലെ.
