Spoken by Bharata

siddhārthaḥ khalu saumitrir yaś candravimalopamam |
mukhaṃ paśyati rāmasya rājīvākṣaṃ mahādyuti ||10||
Lakshmana, one who beholds the highly effulgent countenance of Rama, resembling the spotless Moon and whose eyes resemble red lotuses, is blessed indeed!
सत्पुरुषदर्शनं सिद्ध्यै; सेवया सान्निध्यं परमफलम्।
Supports rāma-dhyāna via iconographic cues (lotus eyes, moonlike face, tejas); useful for japa/meditation visualization.
Darśana of the dharmic/ātma-jñāna-oriented person as transformative; beauty as manifestation of sattva and inner luminosity.
Chāndogya/Bṛhadāraṇyaka imagery of inner light (jyotis/tejas) reflected in the person; 'darśana' of the luminous as auspicious.
Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa 3.1-3.3 (Rama’s beauty and tejas described in forest); Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa 5.35 (Sītā’s recollection of Rama’s lotus-eyed beauty)
Vedic/Itihāsa-Purāṇa convention: lotus eyes and moonlike face as lakṣaṇa of mahāpuruṣa
Ayodhyākāṇḍa: repeated epithets rājīvākṣa, mahādyuti for Rama across sargas
Anuṣṭup
Joyful
Tāra (high register)
Dharma is shown as loyal service to righteousness—Lakṣmaṇa’s fulfillment lies in devoted companionship to Rama, the embodiment of dharma.
As Bharata nears Rama at Chitrakūṭa, he praises those who are close to Rama and share in his presence during exile.
Lakṣmaṇa’s steadfast devotion and selfless service (sevā, bhakti, anurāga) are highlighted.
