न तु कामं करिष्यामि तवाऽहं पापनिश्चये ।
त्वया व्यसनमारब्धं जीवितान्तकरं मम ॥२५॥
na tu kāmaṃ kariṣyāmi tavāhaṃ pāpaniścaye |
tvayā vyasanam ārabdhaṃ jīvitāntakaraṃ mama ||25||
O woman of sinful disposition!, I on my part will not fulfil your cherished desire. Youhave started a distressing deed to bring an end to my existence.
Do not fulfill a desire rooted in pāpa; complicity in wrongdoing makes one a co-author of calamity.
Vairāgya toward coercive desire; cultivating moral courage to say ‘no’ to adharma even within family.
Buddhi’s refusal to serve kāma; turning from tamas/rajas toward sattva as a prerequisite for dharmic action.
Kaṭha Upaniṣad imagery of the self choosing śreyas over preyas (implicit contrast: desire vs right).
Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa 2.73.3 (salt-in-wound reproach); Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa 2.73.26–28 (Bharata’s resolve and roar)
Mahābhārata: Vidura/Dhṛtarāṣṭra admonitions where kāma is rejected as adharma (general parallel)
Ayodhyākāṇḍa: Bharata’s denunciation of Kaikeyi across 2.73 (sequence)
Anuṣṭup

Udātta-prāya with sharp nyāsa on "पापनिश्चये" and "जीवितान्तकरम्"
Dharma may require refusing even a powerful elder’s demand when it is rooted in adharma; truthfulness includes a firm moral ‘no’.
