Satya (truthfulness) and fidelity to one’s word are treated as binding—even when the consequences are personally devastating—highlighting the tension between promise-keeping and justice.
Kaikeyī states that Daśaratha complied with her demand, resulting in the exile of Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa, and Sītā.
Daśaratha’s commitment to a pledged promise (satya-vrata), though it becomes tragically misdirected by the boon’s misuse.
