Atharva Veda 4.23.2: Kanda 4, Anuvaka 3, Sukta 23, Mantra 2

Sukta 23

यथा॑ ह॒व्यं वह॑सि जातवेदो॒ यथा॑ य॒ज्ञं क॒ल्पय॑सि प्रजा॒नन्। ए॒वा दे॒वेभ्यः॑ सुम॒तिं न॒ आ व॑ह॒ स नो॑ मुञ्च॒त्वंह॑सः

yáthā havyáṃ váhasi jātavedo yáthā yajñáṃ kalpáyasi prajā́nán | evā́ devébhyaḥ sumatíṃ na ā́ vaha sá no muñcatv áṃhasaḥ ||

As thou bearest the oblation, O Jātavedas, as thou, knowing, duly orderest the sacrifice—so, for the Gods, bring hither unto us good favour; and may he release us from anguish.

ഹേ ജാതവേദസേ! നീ ഹവ്യം (ആഹുതി) എങ്ങനെ വഹിക്കുന്നു, അറിഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ട് യജ്ഞത്തെ എങ്ങനെ യഥാവിധി ക്രമപ്പെടുത്തുന്നു—അതുപോലെ ദേവന്മാർക്കായി ഞങ്ങളിലേക്കു സുമതി (ശുഭകൃപ) ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവരിക; അവൻ ഞങ്ങളെ വ്യഥ/കഷ്ടത്തിൽ നിന്ന് മോചിപ്പിക്കട്ടെ.
