Sukta 8
skambhéne mé viṣṭabhité dyáuś ca bhū́miś ca tiṣṭhataḥ | skambhá idáṃ sárvam ātmán-vad yát prāṇán nimiṣác ca yát
By Skambha are these twain—Heaven and Earth—set fast and held apart. Skambha is all this world, ensouled: whatever breatheth, whatever winketh into life.
Rishi: Skambha-cycle seer (Atharvanic; variable by anukramaṇī).
Devata: Skambha (Support), identified with Brahman.
Chandas: Anuṣṭubh-like cadence in parts; overall Atharvanic mixed meter.
Primary: shanta
Secondary: adbhuta
