The son of the king (Rama) partook the remainder of the havis seeking his own welfare. With a restrained mind and a vow of silence, he meditated upon Lord Narayana and slept along with Vaidehi on a well-spread bed of kusha grass in the auspicious temple of lord Visnu.
The verse exemplifies the Dharma of spiritual preparation and devotion. Rama's meditation on Narayana, partaking of the sacred offering, and observing the vow of silence demonstrate the proper conduct before assuming royal responsibilities. His inclusion of Sita shows the principle of shared spiritual practice in marriage.
Following Vasistha's instructions, Rama performs the pre-coronation rituals. After offering oblations to Vishnu, he partakes of the remaining havis, meditates on Narayana, and rests with Sita in Vishnu's temple, observing silence and mental restraint as part of the sacred fast.
The virtues of Bhakti (devotion), mental discipline (niyatamānasa), and ritual observance are emphasized. Rama's meditation on Narayana shows his divine connection, while his observance of silence and restraint demonstrates his commitment to Vedic traditions and spiritual discipline.
