Vasiṣṭha

Triṣṭubh (likely; verify)
This short hymn of Vasiṣṭha prays to the Ādityas—especially Mitra and Varuṇa—for stability, protection of family lines, and freedom from inherited or externally-caused guilt. It asks that the worshippers become “foundation-like” as Dyāvā-Pṛthivī (Heaven and Earth), and culminates in a vision of the Angirases attaining Savitṛ’s treasure, with all the gods consenting to bless the sacrificer.

आदित्यासो अदितयः स्याम पूर्देवत्रा वसवो मर्त्यत्रा । सनेम मित्रावरुणा सनन्तो भवेम द्यावापृथिवी भवन्तः ॥
हम भी आदित्य बन जाएं, अदिति के बेटे जैसे। देवताओं की दुनिया में भी स्ट्रांग हो, इंसान की दुनिया में भी। मित्र और वरुण, हम जीत के रहें, बार-बार जीत के। हम आसमान और धरती जैसे स्थिर हो जाएं, काम के लिए पक्का फाउंडेशन।

मित्रस्तन्नो वरुणो मामहन्त शर्म तोकाय तनयाय गोपाः । मा वो भुजेमान्यजातमेनो मा तत्कर्म वसवो यच्चयध्वे ॥
मित्र और वरुण हमारे लिए ऐसा प्रोटेक्शन बढ़ा दें जो हमारे बच्चों को सेफ रखे। किसी और के किए हुए पाप का हमें फल न मिलना चाहिए। वसु देवता, ऐसा मत करना कि हमें कोई बुरा कर्म पकड़ ले।

तुरण्यवोऽङ्गिरसो नक्षन्त रत्नं देवस्य सवितुरियानाः । पिता च तन्नो महान्यजत्रो विश्वे देवाः समनसो जुषन्त ॥
अंगिरा रिशि जो तेज़ी से चलते हैं, वो सविता देवता के रास्ते पे चल के ख़ज़ाना पा लें। महान पिता, जिसको यज्ञ करना चाहिए, वो हमें वो ख़ज़ाना दे। सारे देवता मिलकर उसमें खुश हों।
