This hymn is an invitatory praise to Agni as the priestly fire who brings the gods to the Soma-pressing and ensures the oblation is rightly conveyed. Mantra 1

अग्ने सुतस्य पीतये विश्वैरूमेभिरा गहि । देवेभिर्हव्यदातये ॥

Agni, come with all the helpful powers for the drinking of the pressed Soma, together with the gods, to give the offering—so that the inner oblation may be truly delivered.

Mantra 3

विप्रेभिर्विप्र सन्त्य प्रातर्यावभिरा गहि । देवेभिः सोमपीतये ॥

O seer-fire, come with the seers who are companions of the morning journey; come with the gods for the drinking of Soma, that the dawnward movement in us may be fulfilled.

Mantra 4

अयं सोमश्चमू सुतोऽमत्रे परि षिच्यते । प्रिय इन्द्राय वायवे ॥

This Soma, pressed and set in the bowl, is poured all around into the vessel of receptivity—dear to Indra and to Vāyu—so that force and breath may take delight in the offered essence.

Mantra 6

इन्द्रश्च वायवेषां सुतानां पीतिमर्हथः । ताञ्जुषेथामरेपसावभि प्रयः ॥

Indra and Vāyu, you are worthy of the drinking of these pressed Soma-essences. Take delight in them, you two without blemish, and enter into the offering-force set before you.

Mantra 7

सुता इन्द्राय वायवे सोमासो दध्याशिरः । निम्नं न यन्ति सिन्धवोऽभि प्रयः ॥

The pressed Soma-forces, mixed with the clarifying power (curd), are offered for Indra and Vāyu; they move toward the delight (prayaḥ) as rivers hasten to the deep—so the currents of inner offering run naturally into the vast receptacle of bliss.

Mantra 8

सजूर्विश्वेभिर्देवेभिरश्विभ्यामुषसा सजूः । आ याह्यग्ने अत्रिवत्सुते रण ॥

In one joined movement with all the gods, with the Aśvins and with Dawn, come here, O Agni, as in the Atri-way; in the pressed Soma, take thy joy—enter the offering as the divine Will that gathers all powers into a single harmony.

Mantra 9

सजूर्मित्रावरुणाभ्यां सजूः सोमेन विष्णुना । आ याह्यग्ने अत्रिवत्सुते रण ॥

In one accord with Mitra and Varuṇa, in one accord with Soma and Viṣṇu, come here, O Agni, in the Atri-way; rejoice in the pressed delight—so that harmony, vast law, ecstasy, and all-pervading stride may unite in the flame of the will.

Mantra 10

सजूरादित्यैर्वसुभिः सजूरिन्द्रेण वायुना । आ याह्यग्ने अत्रिवत्सुते रण ॥

In one accord with the Ādityas and the Vasus, in one accord with Indra and Vāyu, come, O Agni, in the Atri-way; rejoice in the pressed Soma—let the sustaining powers and the victorious breath-mind act together in the flame that leads the ascent.

Mantra 12

स्वस्तये वायुमुप ब्रवामहै सोमं स्वस्ति भुवनस्य यस्पतिः । बृहस्पतिं सर्वगणं स्वस्तये स्वस्तय आदित्यासो भवन्तु नः ॥

For our well-being we invoke Vāyu; for our well-being Soma, lord of the world’s becoming; for our well-being we call Bṛhaspati with all his host—may the Ādityas become for us the powers of well-being: a guarded path, a widened mind, and a secure truth.

Mantra 13

विश्वे देवा नो अद्या स्वस्तये वैश्वानरो वसुरग्निः स्वस्तये । देवा अवन्त्वृभवः स्वस्तये स्वस्ति नो रुद्रः पात्वंहसः ॥

May all the gods be for our well-being today; may Vaiśvānara, the good Agni, be for our well-being. May the Ṛbhus protect us for our well-being; may Rudra guard our well-being from the crookedness of harm—so that the being may remain intact and fearless.

Mantra 14

स्वस्ति मित्रावरुणा स्वस्ति पथ्ये रेवति । स्वस्ति न इन्द्रश्चाग्निश्च स्वस्ति नो अदिते कृधि ॥

Well-being from Mitra and Varuṇa; well-being from Pathyā-Revatī, the guiding abundance. Well-being for us from Indra and from Agni; O Aditi, make for us well-being—unbind us into the safe wideness of truth.

Mantra 15

स्वस्ति पन्थामनु चरेम सूर्याचन्द्रमसाविव । पुनर्ददताघ्नता जानता सं गमेमहि ॥

May we follow the path in well-being, like the Sun and Moon in their sure course; giving again, not striking down, growing in knowledge—may we come together into a harmonious arriving: a return to the truth of our movement.
