subhṛśaṃ ślāghanīyaṃ ca yad uktaṃ bharata tvayā | vacanaṃ bhrātṛvātsalyād anurūpaṃ tavaiva tat ||
Bharata reported everything relating to the kingdom to the sandals first. Waving the chamaras (a fan made of yak tail) himself, he held the royal parasol over them.
Dharma as fidelity to rightful relationships: fraternal loyalty aligned with justice is praised as socially and morally exemplary.
The court responds to Bharata’s refusal to accept kingship and his intention to keep the throne for Rama.
Bharata’s bhrātṛ-vātsalya (devoted love for his brother) and humility.
