यो मर्त्येष्वमृत ऋतावा देवो देवेष्वरतिर्निधायि । होता यजिष्ठो मह्ना शुचध्यै हव्यैरग्निर्मनुष ईरयध्यै ॥

yó martyeṣv amṛ́ta ṛtā́vā devó devéṣv aratír nidhā́yi | hotā́ yájiṣṭho mahnā́ śucádhyai havyáir agnír mánuṣa īrayádhyai ||

彼在凡人之中而不死:持守ṛta(真理—宇宙秩序)之神;在诸神之中被安置为奋发之推动者。阿耆尼为吠陀祭官(Hotar),最善于奉献:以其伟力点燃光明之觉知;以供献之祭品,激励人向上而行。
