Sukta 5.66
अधा हि काव्या युवं दक्षस्य पूर्भिरद्भुता । नि केतुना जनानां चिकेथे पूतदक्षसा ॥
ádhā hí kā́vyā yuváṃ dákṣasya pū́rbhir adbhutā́ | ní ketúnā jánānāṃ ciket́he pūtadákṣasā ||
O wonder-working seers, you two by the strongholds of Dakṣa build the marvel. By your luminous sign you awaken the peoples to knowledge, O you whose discerning power is purified.
Mitra–Varuṇa are called kāvyā—powers of inspired seeing. Dakṣa is not merely ‘skill’ but the organizing discernment that builds stable inner formations (pūr). The ‘strongholds’ are secure structures of consciousness—stations of right perception and right will—through which the divine powers construct the ‘marvel’ (adbhuta): a new possibility of being. Ketu is the inner sign/light (signal of truth) by which human parts (‘peoples’ within us, or communities outside) are awakened from ignorance into knowledge. Pūtadakṣasā indicates that discernment itself is purified—free from desire-mix and distortion—so it can guide without error.
Transformation requires both vision and structure: illumination (ketu) must be housed in stable inner fortresses (pūr of dakṣa). When discernment is purified, a single clear sign can awaken many minds.
purified discernment, luminous guidance, building inner strongholds, awakening of peoples
Atri hymns often present the Ādityas as builders of ṛta through luminous intelligence and moral purification, emphasizing inner law over outer force.
Atri’s seeing highlights the constructive aspect of truth: not only revelation but the building of enduring inner ‘cities’ where the light can dwell and govern.
They establish the lawful architecture of the worlds; they signal truth to beings and awaken collective order.
Architects of inner discipline: they purify buddhi/discernment (dakṣa) and kindle guiding intuition (ketu) that organizes life-forces into harmony.
Āditya praise in Soma ritual sequences (general); also suitable for vows of truth and purification intentions

majestic, constructive, with emphatic lifts suited to ‘building’ and ‘signaling’
evokes a sense of ordered power; supports concentration on inner structure and clear intuitive cues

Recitation in Āditya-related stotras; thematically for consecration/purification moments
invocation of guardianship, purification of intention, affirmation of ṛta
Use before study/decision-making: invoke purified discernment (pūtadakṣa) and ask for one clear ‘ketu’ (inner sign) to guide action.
dakṣa: power of skill/discrimination (√dakṣ ‘be able, be strong, be competent’). pūḥ ‘stronghold’ becomes an inner symbol for stable structures of consciousness that hold the divine order. ketu ‘banner/sign’ from √cit/√ket? (semantic: shining mark) → illumination that guides and organizes.
dakṣa (discriminative power), purification (pūta), illumination as guidance (ketu)
Ṛta is implemented as structure: the ‘fortresses of Dakṣa’ are ṛta made stable in mind and life.
Truth becomes communicable through ketu—an intelligible sign that awakens others.
The gods as builders: creation as the formation of stable domains for consciousness.
Integral-Vedic psychology: transformation via illumination plus disciplined formation (not mere ecstasy).
daytime clarity (implicit Āditya)
Inner ‘cities’ of stability; a solar cue of intuition that organizes the many impulses into one direction.
Purifying discernment; building stable inner ‘strongholds’ for the light; recognizing the ‘ketu’ as a subtle intuitive directive.
ājñā (ketu/inner sign)
box breathing 4-4-4-4 for 6 cycles, then mantra japa
lucid, organized, receptive to subtle guidance
Visualize an inner citadel of calm clarity; invite one luminous sign (ketu) to appear as a felt-certainty; commit to one truthful action aligned with that sign.
Indicative only; confirm exact udātta/svarita positions from a svara-marked Śākala text.
Keep clarity on consonant clusters: pūrbhir, adbhutā; avoid swallowing final long vowels.
adhā: dh is aspirated; long ā., kāvyā: long ā; vya as a single cluster., dakṣasya: retroflex kṣ; short a in -sya., pūrbhiḥ: long ū; light visarga at end., ketunā: long ū; dental n., cikethe: keep i short; th as aspirated dental.
bright, articulate; slightly elevated pitch on ‘ketunā’ to mirror ‘sign/light’
