Sukta 4.54
देवेभ्यो हि प्रथमं यज्ञियेभ्योऽमृतत्वं सुवसि भागमुत्तमम् । आदिद्दामानं सवितर्व्यूर्णुषेऽनूचीना जीविता मानुषेभ्यः ॥
devebhyo hi prathamaṃ yajñiyebhyo 'mṛtatvaṃ suvasi bhāgam uttamam | ādid dāmānaṃ savitar vy ūrṇuṣe 'nūcīnā jīvitā mānuṣebhyaḥ ||
เพราะพระองค์ทรงเริ่มแรกแก่เหล่าเทพผู้ควรแก่ยัญ (yajñiya) ให้เคลื่อนไปซึ่งส่วนอันสูงสุดแห่งความเป็นอมตะ (amṛtatva). แล้วต่อมา โอ้พระสวิตฤ (Savitṛ) พระองค์ทรงคลี่คลายระเบียบข้อกำหนดอันมีประมาณ; และตามรอยนั้น พระองค์ทรงแผ่สายธารแห่งชีวิตให้แก่มนุษย์ทั้งหลาย.
