कथा शृणोति हूयमानमिन्द्रः कथा शृण्वन्नवसामस्य वेद । का अस्य पूर्वीरुपमातयो ह कथैनमाहुः पपुरिं जरित्रे ॥
kathā́ śṛṇóti hūyámānam índraḥ kathā́ śṛṇván ávasām asya veda | kā́ asya pūrvī́r úpa-mātayo ha katháinam ā́huḥ pápuriṃ jaritré ||
เมื่อถูกเรียกขาน อินทระ (Indra) ทรงสดับอย่างไร? และเมื่อทรงสดับแล้ว ทรงรู้กิจแห่งการเกื้อกูลได้อย่างไร? มาตรวัดและแบบอย่างดั้งเดิม (upamā) ของพระองค์คือสิ่งใด? แล้วผู้คนกล่าวถึงพระองค์—ผู้ดื่ม—แก่ผู้สรรเสริญ (jaritṛ) อย่างไร?
