Sukta 4.17
त्वं महाँ इन्द्र तुभ्यं ह क्षा अनु क्षत्रं मंहना मन्यत द्यौः । त्वं वृत्रं शवसा जघन्वान्त्सृजः सिन्धूँरहिना जग्रसानान् ॥
tváṃ mahā́ṃ indra túbhyaṃ ha kṣā́ ánu kṣatráṃ maṃhánā manyata dyáuḥ | tváṃ vṛtráṃ śávasā jaghánvān tsṛjáḥ síndhūn áhinā jagrasānā́n ||
ท่านคือผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ โอ้อินทระ; เพื่อท่าน แผ่นดินและฟ้าสวรรค์ยอมรับอำนาจอธิปไตยด้วยพลังอันเอ่อล้นของท่าน. ท่านสังหารวฤตระ (Vṛtra) ด้วยฤทธานุภาพ และปลดปล่อยสายน้ำทั้งหลายที่อสรพิษกลืนไว้—ให้กระแสแห่งสัจจะเป็นอิสระจากเงื้อมมือแห่งการกีดขวาง.
