Sukta 1.46

A path is formed for crossing beyond—the good path of Ṛta; the outflowing track of heaven is clearly seen.
Once illumination begins, the being discovers a traversable inner way: the panthā of Ṛta, right order in thought, will, and action. ‘Crossing beyond’ is the passage from the limited mental-vital field to a freer, higher consciousness. The ‘sruti of heaven’ is the descending/ascending current between the human and the luminous planes—an opened channel of inspiration and ascent, now distinctly perceived.
Spiritual progress becomes stable when truth is not a momentary flash but an organized path: right law (Ṛta) turns aspiration into a reliable movement, and higher guidance becomes a visible channel.
Path of Ṛta, Ascent to heaven, Opening of the way, Inner journey
Kaṇva hymns frequently map the journey from obscurity to dawn, emphasizing Ṛta as the sure guide and the Aśvins as swift helpers in transition states.
The seer articulates yoga as ‘path-formation’: revelation becomes a track one can walk, not only a vision one can admire.
Open ways, rescue from peril, bring safe crossings and right arrivals; mediators between realms.
They establish right rhythm and right transition in the seeker—turning aspiration into a traversable order (Ṛta-pantha).
Aśvin invocation in morning sequence; hymns for safe passage and right undertaking.

4 × ~11 syllables; strong caesura typical of Triṣṭubh.
Processional and path-like; supports the sense of steady advance.
Gives a feeling of opening corridors—breath and mind align to a ‘way’.
Soma-yajña progression symbolism: opening of the 'ṛta-path' for the sacrificer; recitable in Aśvina śastra/stotra sequences emphasizing safe passage and right-going.
At beginnings—journeys, transitions, inaugurations of rites; dawn recitation.
Praising/inviting the Aśvins to establish Ṛta and open the ‘heavenly track’.
Use before major decisions to align action with truth-law; as a mantra for ‘finding one’s path’.
: 'farther side' from para- 'beyond' (PIE *per- 'forward, beyond'). : purpose-form from √i 'to go' (PIE *h₁ei- 'go'). : panthā́- 'path' (PIE *pent- 'to tread, way'; cf. Gk pátos). : ṛtá- from √ṛ 'to fit, move rightly' → 'right order/truth' (PIE *h₂er- 'fit, join'). : instr. of sā́dhu- 'good/right' (possibly from √sādh 'accomplish, set straight'). : aor. passive of √dṛś 'see' (PIE *derk- 'see'). : from √sru 'flow' (PIE *sreu- 'flow'). : dyú/div- 'sky' (PIE *dyeu- 'sky, shine').
Ṛta as cosmic law and inner rightness, ascent/crossing to the 'farther shore', vision (darśana) as attainment
Explicit: the path is Ṛta’s; right order becomes a traversable law.
Nāsatyā ethos: truthfulness as the condition for the path to appear.
Worlds connected by streams/tracks; ascent/descents as cosmic circulation.
Yoga of ascent (Aurobindo: opening of higher planes through ordered sacrifice).
dawn
Path = sādhanā; stream = inspiration-current; heaven = higher luminous consciousness.
Contemplate Ṛta: feel a ‘right line’ in the heart-mind; ask inwardly for the next truthful movement.
anāhata (truth-alignment)
4-4-6 breathing (inhale-hold-exhale) to sense an inner ‘track’ and reduce impulsive deviations.
From scattered seeking to ordered aspiration; the beginning of guided ascent.
After chanting, sit and visualize a luminous path rising through the spine to the crown; commit one concrete action today that matches Ṛta (truthful speech, clean intention, right effort).
Vedic accents as marked (abhū́d; pánthā; ṛtásya; adárśi; srutír; diváḥ).
Let ṛtásya carry a clear udātta to emphasize ‘truth-law’; keep caesura pauses gentle, like steps on a path.
ṛtasya: crisp vocalic ṛ., srutiḥ: retroflex ṭ? (here it is dental t? actually ‘sruti’ with dental t; keep s+r cluster clean)., divaḥ: light visarga at end., sādhuyā: long ā; separate dh sound clearly.
Even, steady, ‘walking’ cadence; minimal dramatization.
