Sukta 1.164
यस्मिन्वृक्षे मध्वदः सुपर्णा निविशन्ते सुवते चाधि विश्वे । तस्येदाहुः पिप्पलं स्वाद्वग्रे तन्नोन्नशद्यः पितरं न वेद ॥
yásmin vṛkṣé madhv-ádaḥ suparṇā́ níviśante súvate cā́dhi víśve | tásyéd āhuḥ píppalaṃ svā́dv ágre tán nón naśad yáḥ pitáraṃ ná véda ||
ในต้นไม้นั้น เหล่าผู้มีปีกงามผู้กินน้ำผึ้งเข้าไปนั่งสถิต และบนมันสรรพสัตว์ทั้งปวงถูกขับเคลื่อนให้ดำเนินไป. เขากล่าวกันว่า ‘ผลปิปปละที่ยอดนั้นหวาน’ แต่ผู้ใดไม่รู้จักบิดา ผู้นั้นย่อมไม่อาจเข้าถึงโดยแท้.
