Sukta 1.161
आपो भूयिष्ठा इत्येको अब्रवीदग्निर्भूयिष्ठ इत्यन्यो अब्रवीत् । वधर्यन्तीं बहुभ्यः प्रैको अब्रवीदृता वदन्तश्चमसाँ अपिंशत ॥
ā́po bhū́yiṣṭhā íty éko abravīd agnír bhū́yiṣṭha íty anyó abravīt | vádharyántīṃ bahúbhyaḥ prá éko abravīd ṛtā́ vádantaś camasā́n apiṃśata ||
“ขอให้น้ำทั้งหลายอุดมยิ่งขึ้น” คนหนึ่งกล่าว; “ขอให้อัคนี (Agni) อุดมยิ่งขึ้น” อีกคนหนึ่งกล่าว. อีกผู้หนึ่งประกาศพลังที่รุดหน้าเพื่อชนหมู่มาก; เมื่อกล่าวถ้อยคำแห่ง ṛta (ระเบียบ-สัจธรรมจักรวาล) พวกเขาจึงขัดเกลาถ้วยทั้งหลาย—เป็นรูปภาชนะอันควรแก่การรองรับความรื่นรมย์.
