บทสวดสั้นตามคติอถรรพเวทนี้อัญเชิญอรุณธตี—พลังแห่งโอษธิผู้เยียวยา—ให้คุ้มครองและฟื้นฟูทรัพย์สินคือโค: ทั้งโคผู้, โคนม, โคแห้ง, ลูกโค และฝูงสี่เท้าทั้งหมด ขอให้คอกโคอุดมด้วยน้ำนม ปราศจากโรค และให้ความคุ้มครองเดียวกันแผ่ไปถึงเรือนมนุษย์ ขับไล่ ‘ศร/อาวุธ’ อันน่าหวาดหวั่นของรุทระ (ความตายฉับพลัน โรคระบาด/โรคระบาดในฝูงสัตว์) ตามแบบพิธีเรือนของอถรรพเวท มนตร์นี้เองทำหน้าที่เป็นถ้อยคำคุ้มกัน ประดิษฐานไว้เหนือคอกและฝูงโคด้วยการสาธยายและพิธีโอษธิอย่างง่าย

औषधिः। अ॒न॒डुद्भ्य॒स्त्वं प्र॑थ॒मं धे॒नुभ्य॒स्त्वम॑रुन्धति । अधे॑नवे॒ वय॑से॒ शर्म॑ यच्छ॒ चतु॑ष्पदे
โอ้สมุนไพรเอ๋ย แก่โคเพศผู้ท่านเป็นที่หนึ่ง; แก่โคนมท่านก็เป็นที่หนึ่ง โอ้อรุณธตี (Arundhatī). ขอจงประทานที่พึ่งคุ้มครองแก่ตัวที่ไม่ให้น้ำนม แก่ตัวอ่อนวัย และแก่ฝูงสัตว์สี่เท้าทั้งหลาย.

शर्म॑ यच्छ॒त्वोष॑धिः स॒ह दे॒वीर॑रुन्ध॒ती। कर॒त् पय॑स्वन्तं गो॒ष्ठम॑य॒क्ष्मां उ॒त पूरु॑षान्
ขอให้สมุนไพรอรุณธตี (Arundhatī) พร้อมด้วยสมุนไพรทั้งหลายผู้เป็นเทวี ประทานความคุ้มครองเถิด; ขอให้นางทำให้คอกโคอุดมด้วยน้ำนม ปราศจากยักษมา (yakṣmā: โรคซูบผอม) และให้มนุษย์ทั้งหลายก็เป็นเช่นนั้นด้วย.

ข้าพเจ้ากล่าวถ้อยคำเชื้อเชิญมายังนางผู้มีรูปทั้งปวง ผู้เป็นมงคล และผู้ประทานชีวิต ขอให้นางเพื่อพวกเรา ขับพาอาวุธพุ่งของรุทระ (Rudra) นั้นให้ไกลออกไปจากโคทั้งหลาย
