mṛtyusántaraṇam | ayám ódanaṃ prathamajā́ ṛtásya prajā́patis tápasā bráhmaṇe ’pacat | yó lokā́nāṃ vídhṛtir nā́bhir eṣá āsīt ténaudanénāti tarāṇi mṛtyúm
A death-crossing charm. This boiled rice—first-born of Order—Prajāpati by fervent heat cooked for Brahman-power. This was the worlds’ upholding, their navel and centre: with that same odana may I pass beyond Death.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (Anukramaṇī-dependent)
Devata: Prajāpati; also Odana as cosmic support; Death (Mṛtyu) as the adversary
Chandas: Triṣṭubh-like (common in cosmological assertions; scansion depends on recension/edition)
Primary: adbhuta
Secondary: shanta
