Indra
ఈ తొమ్మిది ఋచల స్తోత్రం ఇంద్రునికి నేరుగా ఆహ్వానిస్తూ చేసిన స్తుతి. ఆయన సమీపానికి వచ్చి, యజమానుల కోసం శక్తి, సంపద, విజయబలముల సమృద్ధమైన స్పష్టమైన భాగాన్ని ‘పట్టుకొని’ అందించమని ప్రార్థిస్తుంది. కుడిచేతి ధర్మక్రియ (దక్షిణా) యొక్క ఫలప్రదతను, ఇంద్రుడు వినవలసిన గానమైన సామన్‌ను, అలాగే వృద్ధి మరియు విజయసిద్ధి పక్వమగుటకు ఇంద్రుని ప్రకాశమయ వాజములు (సమృద్ధులు) శీఘ్రంగా చేరుటను ఇది ప్రధానంగా ఉద్ఘాటిస్తుంది.

आ तू न इन्द्र क्षुमन्तं चित्रं ग्राभं सं गृभाय । महाहस्ती दक्षिणेन ॥
ఇంద్రా, మా వద్దకు రా; ప్రకాశవంతమైన, సమృద్ధమైన శక్తి-గ్రాహ్యాన్ని మా కొరకు సమేతంగా పట్టుకో—మహాహస్తీ—నీ దక్ష (దక్షిణ) కార్యశీల కుడిచేతితో.

विद्मा हि त्वा तुविकूर्मिं तुविदेष्णं तुवीमघम् । तुविमात्रमवोभिः ॥
ఎందుకంటే మేము నిన్ను తెలుసు—తువికూర్మి: గమనంలో విస్తారుడు; తువిదేష్ణ: దానంలో మహత్తరుడు; తువీమఘ: ఉదార బౌంట్యంలో మహానుడు; తువిమాత్ర: ప్రమాణాల్లో అపరిమేయుడు—మమ్మల్ని నిలబెట్టే నీ అనేక అవః (రక్షణలు) ద్వారా.

नहि त्वा शूर देवा न मर्तासो दित्सन्तम् । भीमं न गां वारयन्ते ॥
ఓ శూరా! నీవు దానం ఇవ్వాలని దృఢంగా సంకల్పించినప్పుడు, దేవులైనా కాదు, మానవులైనా కాదు—ఎవరూ నిన్ను ఆపలేరు; వేగంగా దూసుకెళ్లే భయంకర వృషభాన్ని ఎవ్వరూ అడ్డుకోలేనట్లే.

एतो न्विन्द्रं स्तवामेशानं वस्वः स्वराजम् । न राधसा मर्धिषन्नः ॥
రండి; ఇప్పుడు స్తోత్రగానంలో ఇంద్రుని స్తవిద్దాం—వసువుల అధీశుడు, స్వరాజ్ (స్వయంసార్వభౌముడు); ఆయన తన ధన-దానంతో మమ్మల్ని నలిపివేయక, దానిని మాపై సమ్యక్‌గా స్థాపించుగాక.

प्र स्तोषदुप गासिषच्छ्रवत्साम गीयमानम् । अभि राधसा जुगुरत् ॥
స్తుతి ముందుకు సాగుగాక; గానం సమీపించుగాక—పాడబడుతున్న సామన్ (sāman) ఆయన వినుగాక. దాన-సంపదతో వారు ఆయన వైపు జాగ్రత్తగా మేల్కొని, యజ్ఞానందంలో దగ్గరై ఆయనను ఆహ్వానించుగాక.

आ नो भर दक्षिणेनाभि सव्येन प्र मृश । इन्द्र मा नो वसोर्निर्भाक् ॥
హే ఇంద్రా! నీ కుడిచేతితో మా దగ్గరకు (ధనం/బలం) తీసుకురా; ఎడమచేతితో కూడా దానిని తాకి మా వైపు విస్తరింపజేయి. వసువుల అధిపతీ! వసు-సంపద నుండి మమ్మల్ని వేరుచేయకు; మా భాగాన్ని కోసి దూరం చేయకు.

उप क्रमस्वा भर धृषता धृष्णो जनानाम् । अदाशूष्टरस्य वेदः ॥
హే ధృష్ణూ (అత్యంత ధైర్యవంతా)! దగ్గరకు వచ్చి అడుగు వేయి, దానిని తీసుకురా; మనుష్యులలో నీవే అత్యంత ధృష్టుడు. అర్పించని వాడి గూఢమైన వేదం (జ్ఞానం) నీకు తెలుసు—ఆ అడ్డంకిని వశపరచే విద్య.

इन्द्र य उ नु ते अस्ति वाजो विप्रेभिः सनित्वः । अस्माभिः सु तं सनुहि ॥
హే ఇంద్రా! నీకు ఉన్న ఏ వాజ-సంపద (బల పరిపూర్ణత) అయినా, విప్రులతో కలిసి విజయంలో పొందదగినదైతే—దానిని మా తోడుగా మాకు సక్రమంగా గెలిపించు; న్యాయంగా దానిని మా దిగా చేయి.

सद्योजुवस्ते वाजा अस्मभ्यं विश्वश्चन्द्राः । वशैश्च मक्षू जरन्ते ॥
ఓ (దేవా), నీ సద్యోజు (తక్షణ వేగముగల) వాజ (బల-సంపత్తి శక్తులు), విశ్వచంద్ర (సర్వప్రకాశమయ)మై మా వైపు ముందుకు రానివ్వు; తమ వశీకరణ-శక్తులతో మా వృద్ధిని త్వరగా పరిపక్వం చేయుగాక.
