மகாநாம்னீ ஆர்சிகம் (“மகா நாமங்களின் தொகுப்பு”) என்பது இந்திரனின் அரசாதிகாரப் பலமும் யஜ்ஞத்தைப் பற்றிய அவனது விவேகமான வழிநடத்தலும் மையமாகக் கொண்ட, சாமவேதத்தின் பத்து ருச்களால் அமைந்த சுருக்கமான ஐந்திர தசதி ஆகும். அளவில் சிறியதாயினும் விளைவில் மிக வலிமையானதாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது: இப்பாடல்கள் இந்திரனை கவி/வித்வான் என—விதியை ‘அறிந்தவன்’, யஜமானனைச் சரியான பாதையில் நடத்துபவன், மேலும் வெற்றி, பாதுகாப்பு, அரச-பிரபஞ்ச நிலைத்தன்மை ஆகியவற்றை உறுதிப்படுத்துபவன்—என்று வர்ணிக்கின்றன. இத்தொகுப்பின் வலிமை அதன் செறிந்த புகழ்ச்சி (ஸ்துதி) மற்றும் ‘மகா நாமங்கள்’ (மஹாநாமான்) என்பதுடன் உள்ள அதன் தொடர்பில் உள்ளது.
