Frequently Asked Questions

They are divine twin horsemen and healers who arrive quickly in a chariot, especially at dawn and other transition times, bringing protection, renewal, and well-being.

Agni and Dawn mark the opening of the ritual and of consciousness: the fire ‘shines as the face of the Dawns,’ and inspired speech rises, creating the right moment to invite the Aśvins.

Gharmá is a warming, invigorating draught prepared for the gods; in ritual language it can point to a hot or vitalizing offering and, more broadly, to the refreshment and life-force the Aśvins bestow.
