Thereafter, the lord of the earth (king Dasaratha) addressed the entire assembly of invitees. He spoke these pleasing words aimed at their welfare which thrilled and delighted the hearts (of the assembled kings):
Public decisions gain dharmic strength when made transparently before the council and framed as hita (benefit) and uddharṣa (inspiration).
Models disciplined speech: speak what is beneficial and uplifting, especially in leadership and family decisions.
The king’s Śbda (authoritative word) shaping order parallels the idea that right speech aligned with dharma sustains harmony (dharma as cosmic-social order).
Resonance with the esteem for satya and hita-vkya (truthful, beneficial speech) as a mark of the wise.
Vlmki Rmyaṇa 2.2 (DaŚratha convenes the assembly for Rma’s consecration)
Mahīhrata: sabh-parvan court assemblies; royal proclamations for succession
