ଅଥର୍ବବେଦ ୬.୩୬ରେ ବୈଶ୍ୱାନର-ଅଗ୍ନିଙ୍କୁ ଋତର ଆଲୋକର ଅଧିପତି ଭାବେ ଆହ୍ୱାନ କରାଯାଇ, ଅବିରତ ଘର୍ମ (ରକ୍ଷାକାରୀ ଉଷ୍ମା) ପାଇଁ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରାଯାଏ—ଯାହା ଶୀତ, ଅମଙ୍ଗଳ ଓ ଯଜ୍ଞ-କ୍ରିୟାର ଭଙ୍ଗକୁ ଦୂର କରେ। ପରେ ଅଗ୍ନିଙ୍କ ଭୂମିକା ଗୃହାଗ୍ନିରୁ ବିଶ୍ୱ-ନିୟନ୍ତା ପର୍ଯ୍ୟନ୍ତ ବିସ୍ତାରିତ ହୁଏ—ସେ ସମସ୍ତକୁ ଶୃଙ୍ଖଳିତ କରନ୍ତି, ଋତାନୁକୂଳ ଭାବେ ଋତୁମାନଙ୍କୁ ସମନ୍ୱୟରେ ପ୍ରବାହିତ କରନ୍ତି, ଏବଂ ଯଜ୍ଞକୁ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣତାକୁ ବହନ କରନ୍ତି। ଶେଷ ମନ୍ତ୍ରରେ ଏହି ଶକ୍ତିକୁ ଏକମାତ୍ର ସାର୍ବଭୌମ ତେଜସ୍ ଭାବେ ମୁକୁଟିତ କରାଯାଏ—ଯେଉଁଠାରେ ଅଗ୍ନି ଓ କାମ ଏକତ୍ର ହୋଇ, ଯାହା ହୋଇଛି ଓ ଯାହା ହେବ, ସେସବୁ ଉପରେ ଶାସକ ଶକ୍ତି ହୁଏ।

वैश्वानरः। वऋ॒तावा॑नं वैश्वान॒रमृ॒तस्य॒ ज्योति॑ष॒स्पति॑म्। अज॑स्रं घ॒र्ममी॑महे
ବୈଶ୍ୱାନର—ଋତରେ ସମୃଦ୍ଧ ବୈଶ୍ୱାନରଙ୍କୁ, ଋତର ଆଲୋକର ଅଧିପତିଙ୍କୁ—ଅବିରତ ତାପ ଓ ଜ୍ଵାଳା ପାଇଁ ଆମେ ପ୍ରାର୍ଥନା କରୁଛୁ, ବିନତି କରୁଛୁ।

स विश्वा॑ प्रति॑ चाक्लृप ऋ॒तूंरुत् सृ॑जते व॒शी। य॒ज्ञस्य॒ वय॑ उत्ति॒रन्
ସେ ଵଶୀ—ନିୟନ୍ତା—ସମସ୍ତକୁ ଯଥାଯୋଗ୍ୟ ପ୍ରତିକ୍ରିୟାନୁସାରେ ସଜାଇ ରଖେ; ଋତ ଅନୁସାରେ ଋତୁମାନଙ୍କୁ ପ୍ରସାର କରେ; ଏବଂ ଯଜ୍ଞର ପ୍ରାଣଶକ୍ତିକୁ ପାର କରାଇ (ପୂରଣତାକୁ) ପହଞ୍ଚାଏ।

अ॒ग्निः परे॑षु॒ धाम॑सु॒ कामो॑ भू॒तस्य॒ भव्य॑स्य । स॒म्राडेको॒ वि रा॑जति
ଅଗ୍ନି ଦୂରସ୍ଥ ଧାମମାନଙ୍କରେ ଅଛନ୍ତି; ଯାହା ହୋଇଛି ଓ ଯାହା ହେବ, ସେସବୁର ‘କାମ’ (ଇଚ୍ଛାଶକ୍ତି/କାମଦେବ) ଅଟନ୍ତି। ଏକମାତ୍ର ସର୍ବସମ୍ରାଟ ଭାବେ ରାଜସ ତେଜରେ ପ୍ରକାଶିତ ହୁଅନ୍ତି।
