ଅଥର୍ବବେଦ ୧୬.୬ ଏକ ସଂକ୍ଷିପ୍ତ ଅପୋତ୍ରୋପାଇକ୍ ମନ୍ତ୍ର, ଯାହା ‘ପରା-ବହନ’ ଦ୍ୱାରା ଶତ୍ରୁତାପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ବାକ୍—ଘୃଣା, ଶାପ ଓ ଜାଦୁ-ଟୋଣା—କୁ ପୁଣି ପ୍ରେଷକଙ୍କ ଦିଗକୁ କିମ୍ବା ଦୂରରେ ନିର୍ଦ୍ଦିଷ୍ଟ ଗ୍ରାହକଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ ଫେରାଇ ନେଇଯାଏ। ଏଥିରେ ବିଜୟ ଓ ନିର୍ଦୋଷତାର ଘୋଷଣା ସହ ତୀକ୍ଷ୍ଣ ଆଜ୍ଞାବାଚକ ବାକ୍ୟ ମିଶି ମୌଖିକ ଓ ମାନସିକ ଆକ୍ରମଣକୁ ପ୍ରତିମୁଖୀ କରେ; ଶେଷରେ ଅଗ୍ନି ଓ ଦେବଗଣଙ୍କ ବହନ ଦ୍ୱାରା ପ୍ରତିଦ୍ୱନ୍ଦ୍ୱୀ (ବାଘ୍ରୀ) ଭଙ୍ଗୁର ଓ ନିଷ୍ଫଳ ହୋଇପଡ଼େ।

अजै॑ष्मा॒द्यास॑नामा॒द्याभू॒माना॑गसो व॒यम्
ଆମେ ଜୟ କରିଛୁ; ଆସନା-ମାନଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଆମେ ଅଗ୍ରଣୀ; ଅଗ୍ରସ୍ଥାନରେ ଆମେ ହୋଇଛୁ—ଆମେ ନିର୍ଦୋଷ।

उषो॒ यस्मा॑द् दु॒ष्वप्न्या॒दभै॒ष्माप॒ तदु॑च्छतु
ହେ ଉଷା (ପ୍ରଭାତ), ଯେ ଦୁଷ୍ସ୍ୱପ୍ନରୁ ଆମେ ଭୟ କରୁଥିଲୁ—ସେ ଦୂର ହେଉ; ସେ ତାଡ଼ିତ ହୋଇ ଚାଲିଯାଉ।

ଦ୍ୱେଷ କରୁଥିବା ଲୋକ ପାଖକୁ ସେଇ ଦୁଷ୍ଟତାକୁ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଭାବେ ବହିନେଇଯା; ଶାପ ଦେଉଥିବା ଲୋକ ପାଖକୁ ମଧ୍ୟ ସେଇ ଦୁଷ୍ଟତାକୁ ସମ୍ପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଭାବେ ବହିନେଇଯା।

यं द्वि॒ष्मो यश्च॑ नो॒ द्वेष्टि॒ तस्मा॑ एनद् गमयामः
ଯାହାକୁ ଆମେ ଦ୍ୱେଷ କରୁ, ଏବଂ ଯେ ଆମକୁ ଦ୍ୱେଷ କରେ—ସେଇ ମଣିଷ ପାଖକୁ ଆମେ ଏହି (ଦୁଷ୍ଟତା)କୁ ପଠାଉଛୁ।

उ॒षा दे॒वी वा॒चा सं॑विदा॒ना वाग् दे॒व्यु॑१षसा॑ संविदा॒ना
ଉଷା ଦେବୀ ବାଚା ସହ ସଂବିଦାନା; ଏବଂ ବାଚ୍ ଦେବୀ ଉଷା ସହ ସଂବିଦାନା।

ते॒३मुष्मै॒ परा॑ वहन्त्व॒राया॑न् दु॒र्णाम्नः॑ स॒दान्वाः॑
ସେମାନେ ସେହି ପରା ପୁରୁଷ ପାଖକୁ ଅରାୟାନ୍—ଦୁଷ୍ଟ-ଇଚ୍ଛୁକମାନଙ୍କୁ, ଦୁର୍ଣାମ୍ନଃ—କୁନାମଧାରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ, ସଦାନ୍ୱାଃ—ସଦା ଲାଗି ରହୁଥିବା (ଶତ୍ରୁମାନଙ୍କୁ)—ଦୂରେ ବହିନେଇଯାଉନ୍ତୁ।

କୁମ୍ଭୀକାଃ, ଦୂଷୀକାଃ, ପୀୟକାନ୍—ଏମାନଙ୍କ ନାମ ମୁଁ ଉଚ୍ଚାରଣ କରି ଚିହ୍ନିତ କରି ପୃଥକ କରେ।

जा॒ग्र॒द्दु॒ष्व॒प्न्यं स्व॑प्नेदुष्व॒प्न्यम्
ଜାଗ୍ରତାବସ୍ଥାରେ ଆସୁଥିବା ଦୁଷ୍ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ, ନିଦ୍ରାରେ ଆସୁଥିବା ଦୁଷ୍ସ୍ୱପ୍ନ—ଦୁହେଁକୁ ମୁଁ ସାମ୍ନା କରି ପ୍ରତିରୋଧ କରେ।

अना॑गमिष्यतो॒ वरा॒नवि॑त्तेः संक॒ल्पानमु॒च्या द्रु॒हः पाशा॑न्
ଯେ ବର ଆସୁନାହିଁ, ଯେ ପ୍ରାପ୍ତି ହେଉନାହିଁ, ଏବଂ ଯେ ସଂକଳ୍ପିତ ଯୋଜନା ଅଛି—ସେସବୁଠାରୁ, ଦ୍ରୋହର ପାଶମାନଙ୍କଠାରୁ, ମୁଁ ତୁମକୁ ମୁକ୍ତ କରେ।

तद॒मुष्मा॑ अग्ने दे॒वाः परा॑ वहन्तु॒ वघ्रि॒र्यथास॒द् विथु॑रो॒ न सा॒धुः
ହେ ଅଗ୍ନି, ସେହି (ଅପକାର/ଅପଶକୁନ)କୁ ଦେବମାନେ ଅମୁଷ୍ମାଇ (ଅପାର ପାର୍ଶ୍ୱରେ ଥିବା ଜଣଙ୍କ ପାଖକୁ) ଦୂରେ ବହିନେଇଯାଆନ୍ତୁ—ଯେପରି ବଘ୍ରି ନିଷ୍ଫଳ ହେଉ, ଭଙ୍ଗୁର ହେଉ, ଏବଂ କୌଣସି କାମର ନ ରହୁ।
It means “carry it away.” In AV 16.6 it is a command that the evil embedded in hatred and curses be removed from the reciter and transported outward—often back toward the hostile source.
Its primary function is protective reversal: it prevents hostile speech from landing on the reciter by sending it away and back to the hater/curser. The emphasis is on expulsion and neutralization rather than initiating unprovoked harm.
The text itself does not require substances. The closing verse explicitly involves Agni, so recitation near a household fire can support the rite, but the core mechanism is the spoken imperative of banishment.
