അഥർവണിക പരമ്പരയിലെ AV 6.36 സൂക്തം ഋതത്തിന്റെ പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ അധിപനായ വൈശ്വാനര-അഗ്നിയെ ആഹ്വാനം ചെയ്ത്, ശീതം, ദുര്ഭാഗ്യം, യാഗക്രമഭംഗം എന്നിവ നീക്കുന്ന നിരന്തര ഘർമം (സംരക്ഷക ഉഷ്ണത) നൽകണമെന്നു അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു. തുടർന്ന് അഗ്നിയുടെ സ്ഥാനത്തെ ഗൃഹാഗ്നിയിൽ നിന്ന് സർവ്വവിശ്വനിയന്ത്രകനിലേക്കു വിപുലീകരിക്കുന്നു—എല്ലാം ക്രമത്തിലാക്കുന്നവൻ, ഋതത്തിന് അനുസൃതമായി ഋതുക്കളെ സമന്വയത്തോടെ പ്രവഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നവൻ, യാഗത്തെ സമാപ്തിയിലേക്കു വഹിക്കുന്നവൻ എന്നിങ്ങനെ. അവസാന മന്ത്രം ഈ ശക്തിയെ ഏകാധിപത്യപ്രഭയായി കിരീടമണിയിച്ച്, അഗ്നിയും കാമവും ഒന്നായി ഭൂതവും ഭാവിയും ആയ എല്ലാറ്റിനുമേൽ ആധിപത്യമുള്ള ഭരണശക്തിയായി സംഗമിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്നു.

വൈശ്വാനരൻ—ഋതസമ്പന്നനായ വൈശ്വാനരനെ, ഋതത്തിന്റെ പ്രകാശത്തിന്റെ അധിപതിയെ—അവിരതമായ ഉഷ്മാവും ജ്വാലയും ലഭിക്കുവാൻ ഞങ്ങൾ പ്രാർത്ഥിക്കുന്നു, അപേക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.

अ॒ग्निः परे॑षु॒ धाम॑सु॒ कामो॑ भू॒तस्य॒ भव्य॑स्य । स॒म्राडेको॒ वि रा॑जति
അഗ്നി ദൂരസ്ഥ ധാമങ്ങളിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു; ഉണ്ടായതിന്നും വരാനിരിക്കുന്നതിന്നും ‘കാമ’ (ഇച്ഛാശക്തി/കാമദേവൻ) ആകുന്നു. ഏക സർവ്വസമ്രാട്ടായി രാജസ തേജസ്സോടെ പ്രകാശിക്കുന്നു.
