This hymn of Vāmadeva calls the Aśvinau—the divine twin healers and swift rescuers—to hear and accept the poet’s “divine Word” and to come by their nearest path when invoked. Moving through wonder at their approach and incomparable radiance, it repeatedly asks for their broad protection, honeyed aid, and life-giving favor for the singer and his people.

क उ श्रवत्कतमो यज्ञियानां वन्दारु देवः कतमो जुषाते । कस्येमां देवीममृतेषु प्रेष्ठां हृदि श्रेषाम सुष्टुतिं सुहव्याम् ॥
कौन सुनेगा हमारी पूजा? देवताओं में से कौन हमारी अर्ज़ सुनेगा? हमारे दिल में एक बात है जो अमृत से भी प्यारी है। यह हमारी अच्छी दुआ है जो भगवान के लिए है। कौन इसे अपनाएगा?

को मृळाति कतम आगमिष्ठो देवानामु कतमः शम्भविष्ठः । रथं कमाहुर्द्रवदश्वमाशुं यं सूर्यस्य दुहितावृणीत ॥
कौन खुशी देगा? देवताओं में से कौन सबसे जल्दी आता है और सबसे अच्छा है? सूर्य की बेटी ने एक तेज़ रथ चुना है। उसके घोड़े भागते हैं। वो रथ तुम्हारे बुलाने पर आता है।

मक्षू हि ष्मा गच्छथ ईवतो द्यूनिन्द्रो न शक्तिं परितक्म्यायाम् । दिव आजाता दिव्या सुपर्णा कया शचीनां भवथः शचिष्ठा ॥
तुम तेज़ी से आते हो, दिन रात चलते हो। जैसे इंद्र अपनी ताकत से आगे बढ़ता है। तुम आसमान से हो, तुम्हारे पंख हैं। तुम्हारी शक्ति कितनी बड़ी है, यह समझ में नहीं आता।

का वां भूदुपमातिः कया न आश्विना गमथो हूयमाना । को वां महश्चित्त्यजसो अभीक उरुष्यतं माध्वी दस्रा न ऊती ॥
अश्विन भाई, जब हम तुम्हे बुलाते हैं तो तुम कैसे आते हो? तुम्हारी बड़ाई के सामने कोई नहीं आ सकता। तुम्हारा रंग कितना बड़ा है। हमें मदद दो, तुम्हारी मदद मीठी है।

उरु वां रथः परि नक्षति द्यामा यत्समुद्रादभि वर्तते वाम् । मध्वा माध्वी मधु वां प्रुषायन्यत्सीं वां पृक्षो भुरजन्त पक्वाः ॥
तुम्हारा रथ बहुत बड़ा है, आसमान में घूमता है। समुंदर से आता है तुम्हारे पास। तुम्हारी खुशी मीठी है, जैसे शहद। जब लोग तुम्हे भोग लगाते हैं, तब तुम प्रसन्न होते हो।

सिन्धुर्ह वां रसया सिञ्चदश्वान्घृणा वयोऽरुषासः परि ग्मन् । तदू षु वामजिरं चेति यानं येन पती भवथः सूर्यायाः ॥
समुंदर जैसी नदी तुम्हारे घोड़ों को मीठा पानी से भिगो देती है। चमकदार धूप में लाल पक्कड़ी उड़ने लगते हैं। यह तुम्हारा तेज़ रास्ता है। इससे तुम सूर्या के साथ मिल जाते हो, वो जो रोशनी वाली दुलहन है।

इहेह यद्वां समना पपृक्षे सेयमस्मे सुमतिर्वाजरत्ना । उरुष्यतं जरितारं युवं ह श्रितः कामो नासत्या युवद्रिक् ॥
जहाँ भी तुम दोनों एक हो रहे हो, वहाँ हमें अच्छा दिमाग मिलता है, ताकत से भरा हुआ। गाने वाले को भी बड़ा रक्षा करो। नासत्य, तुम्हारे पास हमारी इच्छा आश्रय ले लेती है, तुम्हारी तरफ देख के।
