Le Kāṇḍa 16 constitue un dossier atharvavédique concentré de pratique abhicārika : lier, réduire au silence et renvoyer les forces hostiles par le mantra et le rite. À travers neuf sūktas (en un seul anuvāka), il vise la parole ennemie, la calomnie et des agents invisibles qui sapent le statut, la sécurité et les moyens d’existence.
