Sukta 67

Mantra 1

वनेषु जायुर्मर्तेषु मित्रो वृणीते श्रुष्टिं राजेवाजुर्यम् ॥

In the forests he is the quick-born flame; among mortals he becomes the Friend: he chooses obedience and right hearing, like a king choosing an unfailing support.

Mantra 2

क्षेमो न साधुः क्रतुर्न भद्रो भुवत्स्वाधीर्होता हव्यवाट् ॥

He becomes like a secure peace, like a true good; his will is a beneficent power: the wise-minded Hotṛ, the carrier of the offering, establishes the right state within.

Mantra 3

हस्ते दधानो नृम्णा विश्वान्यमे देवान्धाद्गुहा निषीदन् ॥

Holding in his hand the full manly force, he set all the gods in their place; in the secret cave he sat down—within the hidden heart.

Mantra 4

विदन्तीमत्र नरो धियंधा हृदा यत्तष्टान्मन्त्राँ अशंसन् ॥

Here the men who uphold the thought find her; with the heart they acclaim the mantras that were fashioned—forms of truth shaped within.

Mantra 5

अजो न क्षां दाधार पृथिवीं तस्तम्भ द्यां मन्त्रेभिः सत्यैः ॥

Like the Unborn, he upheld the earth; he propped the heaven by true mantras—establishing the worlds in the firmness of Truth.

Mantra 6

प्रिया पदानि पश्वो नि पाहि विश्वायुरग्ने गुहा गुहं गाः ॥

Guard well the dear tracks of the Rays (the luminous herds). O Agni, all-life, enter cave after cave, seeking them out in the hidden places.

Mantra 7

य ईं चिकेत गुहा भवन्तमा यः ससाद धारामृतस्य ॥

He who has perceived Him dwelling in the secret cave, and he who has approached the stream-current of the Truth—he truly comes into Agni’s knowing.

Mantra 8

वि ये चृतन्त्यृता सपन्त आदिद्वसूनि प्र ववाचास्मै ॥

Those who cut apart the obstructing knots and follow the ways of Truth—then indeed the riches (the inner treasures) are declared and released for him.

Mantra 9

वि यो वीरुत्सु रोधन्महित्वोत प्रजा उत प्रसूष्वन्तः ॥

He who by his greatness breaks open the barriers among the growing shoots—he works within both the begettings and the births, shaping the increase from inside.

Mantra 10

चित्तिरपां दमे विश्वायुः सद्मेव धीराः सम्माय चक्रुः ॥

In the home of the Waters is the conscious discerning (citti) of the all-life; the wise, as if in a settled house, have built the harmony (māyā) together.
