Sukta 10.20

Devata

Vāta / the inspiriting Breath (as carrier of bhadra)

Frequently Asked Questions

It asks Vāta (the inspiriting Wind/Breath) to bring bhadra—auspicious, right inspiration—into us so the mind moves in a wholesome direction, and it seeks Agni’s guidance for peace and a clear path.

Vāta represents the incoming current of inspiration and vitality, while Agni represents the ordered sacrificial fire that makes that inspiration effective—turning it into a stable path, protection (kṣema), and blessings.

It asks for iṣa (impulse/provision), ūrj (sustaining strength), and sukṣiti (secure dwelling or well-being), understood as both outer prosperity and inner steadiness.
