Outer meaning

The seer sets the oblation in motion toward Agni—bright, gift-giving, flowing with ghee. Moving rightward, eager and expansive, may the host of godheads be established; with gifts and the Vasus may the sacrifice be joined perfectly.

Inner meaning

The offering is the purified substance of our energies (haviṣmatī, ghṛtācī): thoughts, emotions, and life-force clarified into a luminous stream. Sending it ‘toward Agni’ means turning all movements toward the divine Will. The ‘rightward course’ (pradakṣiṇit) symbolizes alignment with ṛta—right order and progressive ascent. When aspiration is wide (urāṇaḥ) and eager, the devatāti (inner divine powers) consolidates; the Vasus—powers of harmony, stability, and right enjoyment—help the yajña become integrated (saṃ…aśret), i.e., the whole being coheres around the spiritual aim.

Universal truth

Transformation requires not only intensity but purification: energies must become clear, sweet, and rightly directed. When action aligns with right order, supportive powers of harmony naturally gather and the work becomes whole.
