apā́ṃ napā́dā́ hy ásthād upásthaṃ jihmā́nām ūrdhvó vidyútaṃ vásānaḥ | tásya jyéṣṭhaṃ mahimā́naṃ váhantīr híraṇya-varṇāḥ pári yanti yahvī́ḥ ||
Purificatory and kindling contexts; supports visualization of hidden fire in waters (inner and outer)
Upright ascent within winding nature, Radiance as vesture (tejas), Supreme greatness (mahimā)
Uprightness (ūrdhva) symbolizes alignment to ṛta within the flowing multiplicity.
Lightning as sudden satya-revelation piercing obscurity.
Not only birth but enthronement: the divine takes seat in nature and nature bears its greatness.
Vedic yoga of transformation: psychic enthronement in life-nature leading to luminous transmutation.
Storm-dawn or twilight (lightning + waters; suggestive)
Monsoon (lightning and swollen rivers; suggestive)
Emotional/subconscious currents organized around a central upright psychic flame; illumination flashes as insight.
Enthroning the psychic fire in the ‘lap of the waters’—placing a steady luminous center within emotional flow.
Svādhiṣṭhāna (waters) stabilized by Maṇipūra (fire) and lifted toward Anāhata (upright poise).
4-4-6 breathing: inhale 4 feeling cool waters, hold 4 sensing a steady flame, exhale 6 imagining golden currents circling protectively; optional brief visualization of lightning on inhale peak.
Centered, upright, illuminated within movement.
When pulled by ‘crooked streams’ (habits), return to an upright inner column of light; let sharp insight (vidyut) clothe the center; allow life-energy to circle as support rather than disturbance.
RV svara; give a crisp lift on ‘apāṃ napāt’ and ‘ūrdhvo’; let ‘vidyutam’ be sharply articulated to mirror lightning.
Maintain strong pāda articulation; slight emphasis at caesura after ‘upasthaṃ’.
: nasal ‘ām’ clear, : long ā in napād, : ‘u-pas-tham’ (no extra vowel), : ‘jih-mā-nām’ (jih- with h audible), : ‘vid-yu-tam’ (dy cluster), : ‘hi-ra-ṇya-var-ṇāḥ’ retroflex ṇ, : long ī, aspirated hv cluster ‘yahvīḥ’
Clear, bright, slightly forceful; articulate consonants cleanly for ‘lightning’ effect.
