یہ مختصر پوستک منتر ایک "انّ-سومہ قبولیت" کا فارمولا ہے جو اندر اور ورُن کو دبائے ہوئے شہد جیسے سوم کو پینے اور برہیس پر بیٹھنے کی دعوت دیتا ہے، تاکہ پیشکش کو تسلیم کیا جائے۔ دیوتاؤں کی خوشی سے رسم میں شرکت کو یقینی بنا کر، یہ خوراک، طاقت اور مضبوط الہی حکم کے تحت منظم خوشحالی کو مستحکم کرنے کی کوشش کرتا ہے۔

अन्नम्। इन्द्रा॑वरुणा सुतपावि॒मं सु॒तं सोमं॑ पिबतं॒ मद्यं॑ धृतव्रतौ । यु॒वो रथो॑ अध्व॒रो दे॒ववी॑तये॒ प्रति॒ स्वस॑र॒मुप॑ यातु पी॒तये॑
کھانا ہو یہ۔ اے اندر اور ورن، اے دبائے ہوئے کے پاک کرنے والو، اس دبائے ہوئے سوم کو پیو، یہ خوش کن نوش ہے، اے وعدوں میں ثابت قدم۔ تمہارا رتھ، یہ قربانی، دیوتاؤں کی خوشی کے لیے، بہن کی طرف، پینے کے لیے آئے۔

इन्द्रा॑वरुणा॒ मधु॑मत्तमस्य॒ वृष्णः॒ सोम॑स्य वृष॒णा वृ॑षेथाम्। इ॒दं वा॒मन्धः॒ परि॑षिक्तमा॒सद्या॒स्मिन् ब॒र्हिषि॑ मादयेथाम्
اے اندر اور ورن، سب سے زیادہ شیرین، زور والے سوم کا، تم دونوں بیل، اس میں زورور ہو جاؤ۔ یہ سوم کا رس تمہارے لیے، چاروں طرف بہایا ہوا، اس پویتی گھاس پر بیٹھ کر، اس میں خوش ہو۔
To get divine acceptance of the offering—especially Soma/andhas—so that food (anna) becomes a source of strength, nourishment, and stable prosperity.
Indra represents invigorating power and increase, while Varuṇa represents firm ordinance and ṛta. Together they symbolize prosperity that is both strong and properly sanctioned.
In Atharvanic domestic practice, Soma is often represented by a ritually acceptable substitute drink offered with purity and intention; the hymn’s focus is the consecration and acceptance of nourishment.
