The Hunter’s Austerity and the Gaining of Durvāsas’ Favor
इदानीं श्राद्धकालं मे प्राप्तं त्वमवधारय । शीर्णपर्णानि भक्षयन् वै तैरेवाहं महामुने । भवन्तं प्रीणयामीति व्याधस्तं वाक्यमब्रवीत् ॥ ३८.९ ॥
idānīṃ śrāddha-kālaṃ me prāptaṃ tvam avadhāraya | śīrṇa-parṇāni bhakṣayan vai tair evāhaṃ mahāmune | bhavantaṃ prīṇayāmīti vyādhas taṃ vākyam abravīt || 38.9 ||
“บัดนี้กาลแห่งพิธีศราทธะของข้าพเจ้ามาถึงแล้ว ขอท่านโปรดทราบเถิด ข้าแต่มหามุนี ข้าพเจ้าจะกินเพียงใบไม้ที่ร่วงหล่น และด้วยสิ่งนั้นเองจะทำให้ท่านพอพระทัย” นายพรานกล่าวดังนี้
