The Glory of Mathurā: The Account of Piṇḍa-Offering at the Catuḥsāmudrika Well
asti caiva dhanaṃ proktaṃ yanmayā tvadgṛhe vibho || suvarṇabhāro garttastho gṛhe tiṣṭhati sañcitaḥ ||
Preta (departed spirit) (contextual continuation from prior verse)
It preserves a narrative motif common to Purāṇic and dharma-story traditions: concealed treasure disclosed through extraordinary testimony, used to advance moral or pilgrimage-oriented plots.
No explicit place-name appears here; the surrounding passage later references Pratiṣṭhāna and Mathurā.
The verse raises questions about rightful ownership and disclosure—wealth may exist yet remain unknown, prompting reflection on truth, attachment, and responsible use.
