The Greatness of Stutasvāmi: Varāha’s Disclosure of the Bhūtagiri Sacred Landscape and Its Ethical Discipline
nāma kurvanti me tatra maṇipūragirau tataḥ || stutasvāmīti vikhyātaṃ mama karmavyapāśritam ||
Varāha
It exemplifies how Purāṇic texts preserve onomastic traditions—linking a deity’s epithet to localized narratives and commemorative practices.
Maṇipūragiri (Maṇipūra mountain) is explicitly named as the setting for the epithet’s formation.
The verse implies that reputation (vikhyāti) should be grounded in actions (karma), presenting a deed-centered moral logic.
