The Greatness of Kokāmukha (Badarī): Varāha’s Hidden Abode and the Sacred Waters
sūryalokam atikramya mama lokaṃ tu gacchati | asti dhenuvaṭaṃ nāma guhyaṃ kṣetraṃ paraṃ mama ||
Varāha
It juxtaposes cosmological mapping (lokas) with terrestrial place-making (kṣetra), a hallmark of Purāṇic strategies for linking geography and metaphysical aspiration.
Dhenuvaṭa is named as a ‘hidden’ kṣetra; identifying it with a modern location requires corroboration from regional traditions and comparative textual witnesses.
The verse frames disciplined engagement with sacred geography as connected to broader cosmological ideals, encouraging purposeful practice rather than mere travel.
