Sukta 8.97
य इन्द्र सस्त्यव्रतोऽनुष्वापमदेवयुः । स्वैः ष एवैर्मुमुरत्पोष्यं रयिं सनुतर्धेहि तं ततः ॥
yá índra sásty avrátó ’nu-svā́pam ádevayuḥ | sváīḥ sá eváīr mumurat póṣyaṃ rayím sanutár dhehi táṃ tátas ||
โอ้พระอินทระ ผู้ใดประมาท ไม่ตั้งอยู่ในธรรมแห่งการกระทำอันชอบ จมอยู่ในนิทรา ไม่แสวงหาเทพทั้งหลาย—ผู้นั้นย่อมเสื่อมถอยไปตามย่างก้าวของตนเอง. แต่ขอพระองค์ทรงวางทรัพย์อันหล่อเลี้ยงและอุดมสมบูรณ์ (rayi) ไว้แก่ผู้ที่ชนะได้ด้วยความเพียรอันสัตย์จริง; ทรงตั้งไว้ ณ ที่นั้น ให้ห่างจากผู้อื่นนั้นเถิด.
