Sukta 7.61
प्र वां स मित्रावरुणावृतावा विप्रो मन्मानि दीर्घश्रुदियर्ति । यस्य ब्रह्माणि सुक्रतू अवाथ आ यत्क्रत्वा न शरदः पृणैथे ॥
prá vāṃ sá mitrāvaruṇāv ṛtā́vā vípro mánmāni dīrghá-śrud iyarti | yásya bráhmāṇi sukratū avā́tha ā́ yát krátvā ná śáradaḥ pṛṇáithe ||
ขอให้ถ้อยคำสรรเสริญของกวีผู้มีญาณพุ่งไปยังท่านทั้งสอง—มิตรและวรุณะ ผู้ตั้งมั่นในṛta (ระเบียบแห่งสัจจะ)—เป็นความคิดถ้อยคำที่ก้องไกล; และท่านทั้งสอง ผู้มีkratu (พลังเจตจำนง) อันสมบูรณ์ ย่อมคุ้มครองพรหมัน (brahman: วาจาศักดิ์สิทธิ์/แบบพิธี) เหล่านั้น เมื่อท่านด้วย kratu ของตนเติมเต็มมาตราของฤดูกาลให้ครบถ้วน.
