हवन्त उ त्वा हव्यं विवाचि तनूषु शूराः सूर्यस्य सातौ । त्वं विश्वेषु सेन्यो जनेषु त्वं वृत्राणि रन्धया सुहन्तु ॥

Transliteration

hávanta u tvā havyáṃ vívāci tanū́ṣu śūrā́ḥ sū́ryasya sātáu | tváṃ víśveṣu sényo jáneṣu tváṃ vṛtrā́ṇi randhayā suhántu ||

Translation

เขาทั้งหลายร้องเรียกท่าน—เครื่องบูชาอันควรถวาย (hávya)—ด้วยถ้อยคำกังวานไกล; เหล่าวีรชนผู้มีความกล้าอยู่ในกาย ในชัยชนะเพื่อให้ได้มาซึ่งสุริยะ ก็ร้องเรียกท่าน. ท่านเป็นผู้ควรแก่ศึกในหมู่ชนทั้งปวง; ท่านทำให้เหล่า “วฤตระ” (Vṛtra, พลังขัดขวาง) ยอมจำนน เพื่อให้ถูกฟันตีอย่างดีและถูกสังหาร.
