Sukta 7.18
न त इन्द्र सुमतयो न रायः संचक्षे पूर्वा उषसो न नूत्नाः । देवकं चिन्मान्यमानं जघन्थाव त्मना बृहतः शम्बरं भेत् ॥
ná ta indra sumatáyo ná rā́yaḥ saṁcákṣe pū́rvā uṣáso ná nū́tnāḥ | devákaṁ cin mānyamānáṁ jaghánthā́va tmánā bṛhatáḥ śámbaraṁ bhet ||
โอ้พระอินทระ ปรีชาญาณอันประเสริฐและความอุดมแห่งทานของพระองค์ไม่รู้สิ้น—ดุจอรุณรุ่ง ทั้งเก่าแก่และใหม่เสมอ แม้เทวะกะ (Devaka) ผู้สำคัญตนว่ายิ่งใหญ่ พระองค์ก็ทรงฟาดฟันให้ล้มลง และด้วยความไพศาลแห่งพระองค์เอง พระองค์ทรงทำลายชัมพะระ (Śambara) ผู้เป็นดั่งคอกค่ายอันมหึมาให้แตกพัง
