यो मर्त्येष्वमृत ऋतावा देवो देवेष्वरतिर्निधायि । होता यजिष्ठो मह्ना शुचध्यै हव्यैरग्निर्मनुष ईरयध्यै ॥
yó martyeṣv amṛ́ta ṛtā́vā devó devéṣv aratír nidhā́yi | hotā́ yájiṣṭho mahnā́ śucádhyai havyáir agnír mánuṣa īrayádhyai ||
ผู้ซึ่งท่ามกลางปุถุชนยังเป็นอมตะ เทพผู้ทรงฤตะ (ṛta—สัจจะและระเบียบจักรวาล) ได้ถูกสถาปนาไว้ท่ามกลางเหล่าเทพเป็นผู้ขับเคลื่อนอันกระฉับกระเฉง. อัคนีผู้เป็นโหตฤ (Hotar) ผู้ชำนาญยิ่งในการบูชา—ด้วยความยิ่งใหญ่ของท่าน ขอจงจุดประกายปัญญาอันสว่างไสว และด้วยเครื่องบูชา ขอจงเร่งเร้ามนุษย์ให้ก้าวขึ้นสู่เบื้องสูง.
