यद्देवापिः शंतनवे पुरोहितो होत्राय वृतः कृपयन्नदीधेत् । देवश्रुतं वृष्टिवनिं रराणो बृहस्पतिर्वाचमस्मा अयच्छत् ॥

Transliteration

yád devā́piḥ śáṃtanave puróhito hótrāya vṛtáḥ kṛpáyann ádīḍhet | deva-śrútaṃ vṛṣṭi-vánim rárāṇo bṛ́haspátir vā́cam asmā ayacchat ||

Translation

เมื่อเทวาปิ (Devāpi) ผู้ได้รับเลือกเป็นปุโรหิต (purohita) แก่ศันตนู (Śaṃtanū) ได้จุดไฟพิธีเพื่อหน้าที่โหตฤ (hotṛ) ด้วยจิตเมตตา เขายินดีในวาจา (vāc) อัน “เทพสดับ” ซึ่งชนะฝนได้; แล้วพฤหสปติ (Bṛhaspati) ประทานวาจานั้นแก่เขา เพื่อให้การหลั่งลงแห่งฝนที่ต้องการถูกเรียกและบังเกิดผลสำเร็จ.
