Sukta 10.144
यं ते श्येनश्चारुमवृकं पदाभरदरुणं मानमन्धसः । एना वयो वि तार्यायुर्जीवस एना जागार बन्धुता ॥
yaṃ te śyenáś cā́rum avṛkáṃ padā́bharad aruṇáṃ mā́nam ándhasaḥ | enā́ váyo ví tāry ā́yur jīváse enā́ jāgāra bandhútā ||
สิ่งที่เหยี่ยวได้นำมาถวายแก่ท่านด้วยย่างก้าวของมัน—งดงาม มิใช่ดุร้ายดั่งหมาป่า เป็น “มาตรา” สีแดงเรื่อแห่งอันธัส (andhas) อันคั้นแล้ว—ด้วยสิ่งนี้ พลังแห่งชีวิตย่อมถูกพาข้ามพ้น; ด้วยสิ่งนี้ อายุของผู้มีชีวิตย่อมแผ่กว้าง; ด้วยสิ่งนี้ สายสัมพันธ์แห่งเครือญาติย่อมตื่นขึ้น.
