After completing their preparations and ritual bath in the Sarayu, the party proceeds to the royal court; the narrative emphasizes swift, orderly movement from vow/intention to sanctioned public action.
Public life begins with self-governance: purification, punctuality, and purposeful effort. The ethical principle is that righteous administration is sustained by personal discipline and timely execution of duty.
The verse foregrounds saguna discipline—ritual bathing, courtly duty—as the lived pathway by which the nirguna ideal of purity and detachment is enacted in time and society. The formless value (inner purity) becomes visible through formed practices (mannered action).
The couplet links inner resolve with prompt, disciplined action: noble intentions are not left to idle wishing but are executed through orderly means. The Sarayu-bath signals ritual purity and readiness to enter the sphere of royal dharma (the court), where public duty and decorum govern conduct. Traditional Manas exegesis reads this as the rhythm of maryādā: purification, then participation in righteous governance.
Doha (13/11 mātrā pattern; standard doha cadence with a clear caesura after the first half-line)
Anuprāsa (soft repetition of consonantal sounds in 'bahu-bidhi... manorath...'); Kriyā-vaicitrya (varied actions) reinforcing the sense of efficient, multi-pronged effort
Vishishtadvaita (bhakti-informed dharma in the manifest order, without denying the transcendence of Brahman)
