With his draught animals extremely wearied by covering a great distance, the majestic Bharata said to Vasistha, the best of counsellors:
राजा/राजकुमारः क्लेशेऽपि गुरुमन्त्रिणां वचनं श्रुत्वा एव निर्णयं कुर्यात्।
Model of approaching the guru with humility and fatigue-transcending resolve; encourages seeking dharmic guidance before decisive steps.
गुरु-उपसत्तिः—अविद्या-निवृत्त्यर्थं प्राज्ञस्य गुरुमुपसर्पणम् (गुरु-प्राप्ति as prerequisite for right action).
मुण्डकोपनिषद् 1.2.12: "तद्विज्ञानार्थं स गुरुमेवाभिगच्छेत्" (counsel sought from the competent preceptor).
Ayodhyākāṇḍa 2.91-2.94 (Bharata’s march and approach to Citrakūṭa); Ayodhyākāṇḍa 2.75-2.82 (Bharata’s consultation with elders, dharma-inquiry)
Mahābhārata Śānti/Anuśāsana: राज्ञः मन्त्र-परामर्श-प्रशंसा (king should act after counsel)
Ayodhyākāṇḍa 2.1-2.2 (Bharata’s return and resolve)
Anuṣṭup (śloka)
Narrative
Madhyama-gati, gentle niṣāda emphasis on गुरु/मन्त्रि-padas
Dharma includes respect for wise guidance: Bharata turns to Vasiṣṭha, showing that righteous leadership is counsel-guided rather than ego-driven.
After a long journey, Bharata initiates a conversation with Vasiṣṭha as the party nears the region they seek.
Vinaya (humility) and reliance on śiṣṭa-mārga (the path of the learned and disciplined) through consultation with a revered preceptor.
