บทสวดหนึ่งวรรคนี้วอนขอพระอินทร์ประทาน svasty-ayana—การเดินทางอันเป็นมงคล ปราศจากอุปสรรค—โดยให้ผู้เดินทางสอดคล้องกับ “หนทางที่ทอดลงจากสวรรค์” ของพระอินทร์เอง ซึ่งเป็นเส้นทางที่ทำให้โลกเคลื่อนไปข้างหน้า เมื่ออัญเชิญเส้นทางทิพย์เหล่านั้นมาเป็นแบบแผนคุ้มครอง มนต์นี้จึงทำหน้าที่ทั้งเป็นเครื่องเรียกความรุ่งเรือง (ให้กิจที่ออกเดินทางสำเร็จ) และเป็นคาถาปัดเป่าเคราะห์ (ป้องกันอุบัติเหตุ ความล่าช้า และอำนาจศัตรู) ระหว่างการเดินทาง
